Who we are
This site is operated by David Harbert, an Australian-based publisher of plain-language investing education. When you interact with this website — including joining the early-access list — you're sharing information with us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it.
We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you're visiting from the EU or UK, your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR also apply and are addressed below.
What we collect
Right now, the only personal information we collect is your email address, and only when you voluntarily submit it via the early-access form. We also record the page you submitted from (e.g. home, contact) so we can understand where signups come from.
We do not currently use advertising trackers or cookies that build personal profiles for targeted advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any such tools are activated.
Why we collect it
Your email address is used solely to:
- Notify you when the first courses launch
- Send occasional updates about new courses, tools, or content
- Respond to enquiries you send via the contact page
We will not use your email for unrelated marketing, and we will not sell it. Ever.
How we store it
Your data is stored securely on Microsoft Azure infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We use reputable third-party service providers to process and store this data, and we require those providers to handle your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
We retain your email address until you request deletion or unsubscribe from communications, whichever comes first.
Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. The only parties who may access your data are:
- David Harbert directly, for operational purposes
- Trusted service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g. cloud hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations
- Authorities, if required by law
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw consent at any time (unsubscribe from any email we send)
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@davidharbert.com and we will respond promptly.
EU and UK residents have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
